One of our core values is to Guard the Environment. One of the ways we do this is by diverting materials that would otherwise go to the landfill. Material diversion is the practice of redirecting materials such as papers, plastics, metals and other resources to a more environmentally responsible destination.

Some of the ways we do this: If we spot bin contamination while on site, such as recyclable materials in the trash or vice versa, we will sort the items as part of our On-site Waste Control when possible to ensure that all materials end up in the right place. We use electronic reporting over paper. And we divert nearly all of what we pick up during Large Item Pick-up service from going to the landfill. To give you an idea, here are some of the materials we diverted in 2022!

Paper

Paper is one of the easiest materials to recycle, but it accounts for about a fourth of the materials that end up in landfills each year. In addition to helping communities recycle properly, we significantly minimize paper use. By using solely digital forms for our 2022 service reports, we saved 481 reams of paper, or 240,558 pages!

Christmas Trees

Live Christmas trees are a beloved tradition for many families, but disposing of them can be a pain. Rather than contributing to landfills, Strategic offers a recycling program for Christmas trees. We will pick up Christmas trees and repurpose them into mulch, making life easier for your tenants and finding new purposes for natural products.

Metals

Almost all kinds of metals can be recycled! The most common recyclable metals are steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and zinc. Strategic diverts these and other recyclable metals from landfills, giving them a second life and doing our part to protect the environment. If you schedule a large item removal with us, we will salvage recyclable metals from discarded home appliances, car parts, or other types of furniture. We recycled 1.7 tons of metals in 2022.

E-waste

When you upgrade your electronics, it is important to prevent them from ending up in a landfill, as they can leak harmful chemicals into the soil. Luckily, Strategic takes care of recycling old electronics, protecting the environment and reusing their essential materials. For example, in 2022 we diverted 1.7 thousand old TVs! Our monitoring and reporting services give you peace of mind by ensuring that no illegal or harmful items slip under the radar.

Large Items

To save you the hassle of disposing of large or bulky items, we perform regularly scheduled large item removals. If the items can be recycled or donated, rest assured Strategic will handle them with care and environmental consciousness. In 2022 alone, our reports showed that we diverted 94,000 large items!

At Strategic, we have made guarding the environment one of our core values because we believe in the importance of protecting our planet. You can be confident in our commitment to divert, reuse and recycle whenever and wherever possible.

Sincerely,
Broomer
